Ancient sites are all around with the port of Xeros, where copper was exported for 4,000 years and the amphitheatre and Roman town of Soli to the West and Salamis and Famagusta to the East, all are within easy daily reach.    This view is what is left of the Persian castle of Vouni near Soli.

There are three Crusader Castles, St Hilerion, Buffavento and Kantara spread along the Kyrenia range each commanding a considerable amount of territory.

Bellapaix Abbey has a good restaurant in the grounds with a fabulous view west along the Kyrenia range and many concerts are held in the Abbey throughout the year.

The ancient walled city of Famagusta has had many restorations recently completed inside the city walls.
